| A pool’s interior finish is the material that coats the pool shell below the waterline. This is the first line of defense against the degradation of the pool shell. Traditionally, pools were finished with, what is commonly referred to as, Marcite or a close resembling mixture thereof. Today, we know that these finishes are an old technology that are bound to fail at some point and aesthetically are not as pleasing as an exposed aggregate finish. An “exposed aggregate finish” refers to the tiny, smoothed out stones that are added to the interior finish mixture and then exposed, to allow the beauty of the natural stone to be viewed and enhance the overall appearance of the pool and spa. Additionally, when properly installed the natural stone additive can give the interior finish the strength to last a lifetime. Southern Crest Pools will only install Pebble Tec® and Pebble Sheen ® brand exposed aggregate finishes manufactured by Pebble Technology, Inc.. First, Pebble Technology, Inc. uses a superior “mud mixture” for their finishes. Traditional and “knock off” finishes use a mixture of Portland Cement and marble dust. Marble, in general, has a very low tolerance to resisting stains, thus, the finishes using this mixture are incapable of looking new for very long. On the other hand, Pebble Technology, Inc. uses a mixture of Portland Cement and Silica. Silica is used to make glass and the stain resistant properties of glass are second to none. Secondly, the natural stones that are added to the mixture are hand picked for their strength and content is strictly monitored, to ensure the proper ratio of stones to mixture. A great product is practically nothing without the best installers. Pebble Technology, Inc. certifies and licenses their installers and they must meet very strict guidelines of performance and craftsmanship, the ending result is a beautiful product that is beautifully installed. To back all of this, Pebble Technology, Inc. customers will get a LIFETIME WARRANTY on the material and the labor. This is substantial, when one considers the cost of replacing a traditional, marcite or “knock off” exposed aggregate finish can start at $3000.00 and in some cases could be necessary in as little as eight years after the initial installation. Pebble Tec products add value, beauty, and peace of mind to any pool or spa. |
